Michele Klingenberg

Age:  49 1/2

What do you do when you're off the mat?

Off the mat, I am wife to Arnie and mom to Zoe(20), Annie (17) and Sam(13).  I like to read, cook/bake/eat, have coffee/lunch with friends and go to the movies.

What brought you to BY for the first time?

I first came to BY as a  'break' from my gym schedule.  I was getting a bit older and was looking for something a little more kind to my body.  I discovered that yoga was also very kind to my brain as well.  After a beginners series, I started coming 2-3 times per week.

What's your favorite thing about the studio?

My favorite thing about the studio would be the people.  Everyone  is so warm and welcoming here, both teachers and students.  I've enjoyed getting to know more people as the years go on.

What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?

Be kind and gentle with yourself.   Don't compare yourself to others.   USE THE PROPS... they are friends not foe.

What has your yoga practice given you?

Yoga has given me some peace of mind and the ability to cope a bit better with some of the curve balls life throws.  It also has improved my flexibility and overall physical and emotional well being.

What's your favorite pose?

I think my favorite pose is Ardha C/ half moon ....  I just think it's cool.

What's your least favorite pose?

Tie between Fire log/agnistambhasana pose and cow face/gomukhasana pose.  I actually make a cow face while doing  both of them.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.

I'm fairly good at accents.  If you have one, don't drink we with me.  I'll try to do your accent by the end of the night.  Sorry.

What three words would your best friend use to describe you?

Serious, quiet and introverted.  Kidding!. . . .  Upbeat, caring and loyal.

What's your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure?

I love playing stupid games on my phone.  Scrabble and candy crush are my latest addictions.  I sometimes hide from my family.  It's a problem.

Have you made any big changes in your life since starting your yoga practice?

Going thru YTT and becoming a teacher. My motivation for YTT was initially just to help with my adjustment to having my oldest go off to college.  When Lisa asked me to teach, I liked the idea of challenging myself and also doing something a little uncomfortable/ out of the box for me.

If you were having a dinner party and could invite anyone you wanted to, who would you invite?

I initially thought of having the Beatles and the Stones. Fun, right?!  After seeing the musical about her life, I'd love to hang out with Carole King.  And two former first ladies, Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Obama.  If  we could have a cooking party with Giada DeLaurentiis where we make an amazing meal together, I think that would be a perfect night.
