What do you do when you're off the mat?
I work in Corporate America, spend time with my family and our 2 English Bulldogs and try to be outside as much as possible.
What brought you to BY for the first time?
The aunt of a friend of mine had received a gift certificate for Christmas to BY and she told my friend about the studio. We had been talking for a long time about getting back into yoga and just hadn’t made it happen. We signed up for the special monthly promotion, came to a class and I was hooked. When the monthly promotion ended, I signed up for a membership and have been here ever since!
What's your favorite thing about the studio?
The students, the teachers and the welcoming atmosphere. I was shy about coming to yoga classes thinking I wouldn’t know enough or be able to follow along and the inclusive culture of the studio took all those fears away.
What's your advice for someone coming to yoga for the very first time?
Be curious but not competitive. Remember that Yoga is a personal journey, explore and enjoy, don’t compare yourself with others. Practice often. Breathe. Smile.
What has your yoga practice given you?
More balance, in both the figurative and literal sense. I had an issue before yoga of falling down. Not paying attention to what I was doing, or trying to do too many things at once and boom, down I would go. Practicing yoga has given me a more centered approach, an ability to focus, to recognize when I am out of balance and adjust. I still fall out of balance poses every now and then, but I don’t fall down!

Dhanurasana, which just means I need to do it more often!
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I read a ton, around 7-8 books a month. If anyone has any great recommendations, I’m all ears.
What three words would your best friend use to describe you?
Passionate, Dedicated, Caring
What's your guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure?
Wine! Oh and maybe some cheese to go with it! I’m also a sucker for Dove Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate with Almonds, I keep them in my desk at work and have at least one every day.
Have you made any big changes in your life since starting your yoga practice?
A couple of years ago I went through the YTT training at Brandywine Yoga and I now teach class on Monday nights at the Pocopson location. Come and join the fun!
