What do you do off the mat?
When I'm off the mat, I travel quite a bit (for work and fun). This year I travelled to Maine, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Florida and Germany.
What brought you to Brandywine Yoga for the first time?
I came to BY the first time because I was following my teacher, mentor and friend: the amazing Deanne Caputo!
What's your favorite thing about the studio?
My favorite thing about BY is the combination of very talented teachers and a clean, well run studio.
What's your advice to someone coming to yoga for the first time?
My advice for first time students: take a gentle class and be gentle with yourself.
What has your yoga practice given you?
My practice has given me many things; if I had to pick the best thing it is the ability to breath correctly which has led to many other benefits (improved sleep, improved performance under stress, the ability to meditate on airplanes).
What is your favorite pose?
My favorite pose is a competition between mountain pose and child's pose.
Your least favorite pose?
My least favorite pose is Eagle; I have both tight shoulders and tight hips, so it's a double whammy.
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I have a (fraternal) twin brother who looks and acts nothing like me.
What three words would your best friend use to describe you?
My best friend would say that I am loyal, dependable and a good listener.
What's your guilty, or not so guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is smoking cigars, about 3 - 4 a year. Also, smoking pork and brisket on my Big Green Egg.
Have you made any big changes in your life since starting your practice?
The biggest change I have made in my life since I started yoga is becoming a yoga teacher! I teach yoga to veterans at the VA Hospital, and intend to teach yoga to first responders (police/fire/EMS) soon. I also sub teach at BY.
If you were having a dinner party and could invite anyone, past or present, who would you invite?
Tough call! Either Anthony Hopkins or Anthony Bourdain.
